The Fylingdales Group of Artists

Paul Blackwell
Born 1951
I came to Whitby in 1973 having gained a Fine Art Honours degree at Bath Academy of Art. It was there that I met Anne Thornhill, with whom I founded The Grosmont Gallery. And dear Reader, I married her.
After 18 years at Grosmont we moved to our current home on Aislaby side overlooking the stunning Esk Valley.
I was head of Art and Games for many years at Fylinghall School.
As far as painting is concerned I nearly always paint landscapes, but not exclusively. I have exhibited widely and have pictures in numerous collections all over the world. I am proud to be a member of the Whitby Art Society.
I have given many lectures on Painting and Art History, specialising in colour theory and the use of colour by painters through the ages. I do occasional demonstrations for Art societies.
